Marijuana legalization is a trend that appears to fascinate many an American. There is no other way to explain the fact that marijuana became the winner of the midterm elections. Several states, including Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio, approved initiatives aimed at decriminalization of cannabis. Now that there are so many states in which the use of marijuana is supported by the majority of citizens, it is only a matter of time until the others follow them.

Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug, and the legalization trend contributes to its further spreading. While it is perceived by many as something harmless, numerous studies found that cannabis can have a wide range of negative effects on health. The system it affects most is the nervous system, and, consequently, it is the mind that suffers.

As more states (and even countries) are joining the cannabis legalization movement, it is becoming more evident that more people are likely to be diagnosed with cannabis dependence disorder. However fun and not-that-much-of-a-problem it may seem to be to some, cannabis is capable of causing addiction, and withdrawal symptoms often prevent weed consumers from dropping the habit. (more…)
